I’ve felt a bit stuck in a rut in terms of beauty products the past year or so. I keep going back to the same products and not really venturing away from my tried and tested favourites. I mean, why fix what isn’t broken, but it’s definitely taken a bit of the fun away from beauty for me and I really missed trying out new products. I thought the best way to get more into the habit of trying out new things, would be to sign up for a beauty box subscription.
I was quite a fan of Glossybox back in the day, but eventually gave up with it as I felt like I was just getting a box full of dust gatherers every week, and nothing ever really blew me away in terms of product or brand. After lots of deliberation and humming and hawing, I decided on the Look Fantastic box. The mean reason was the brands and products that had been previously featured. There wasn’t a monthly unboxing that I watched or read where there wasn’t at least a couple of products that I would have lusted over. I also love the fact that you get Elle with it, as well as a little booklet talking you through all of the products, with background on why it was chosen and how it is best used.
The blogger in me was also like, I can totally justify this monthly expense because content, duh. Blogging is the best and worst enabler ever. So without further ado, here is what I got in Junes’ Look Fantastic beauty box.
Elemis Superfood Facial Wash
‘A pro-biotic gel cleanser. This gentle face wash revives and refreshes whilst deeply cleansing the skin. Nutrient defence superfoods have been chosen to enhance natural radiance for an outdoor-fresh glow.’
Whenever I have tried Elemis skincare in the past, I have adored it, but it’s just not something I can bring myself to fork out for all the time, so I was super happy to receive this! I’ve never really tried any ‘superfood’ skincare products so I’m looking forward to trying this out and seeing whether its fad or fact!
Rituals Organic White Lotus & Yi Yi Ren body cream
‘Bringing peace and tranquillity into your life. Rich, nourishing body cream’
Again, something I was really happy to see when I opened my box up. I adore Rituals as a brand, and I just know this is going to be perfect for those post-bath pampers to add a little luxury to my routine. It smells of so much goodness I don’t even know how to describe it.
Vita Liberata Self Tanning Gradual Lotion
‘70% organic, 100% clean. Formulated with Marula, shea butter and Ginko Biloba to soothe and moisturise. A subtle sunkissed glow develops over 4-8 hours and can be maintained or deepened with regular use’
Vita Liverata is the best tanning brand I have ever tried, hands down. I had a bottle of their tan a few years ago (the price tag attached was rather heavy, mind you) and it gave me the most natural looking tan you could have easily believed that it was real. I’m excited to try out the gradual version and with Love Island doing its annual job of making me tan-obsessed again, it couldn’t be better timed.
Madara SOS Instant Moisture + Radiance Hydra Mask
‘A velvety wipe-off or leave-on treatment to deliver instant and long-lasting hydration. Use twice weekly or whenever skin feels thirsty, dehydrated or stressed.’
I have always struggled with dry skin so I’m really looking forward to giving this a go. I have never tried this brand before although I’m sure I have seen plenty of good things about them, and it’s vegan-friendly which is always a plus!
Real Chemistry Environmental Rescue Essential Day Cream
‘Apply for a supple, luminous glow. Use daily after the environmental rescue daily serum for best results.
Whilst this is the smallest sample in this months box, I think there will still be a couple of uses in there. I am seeing a lot more skin products talking about tackling pollution and the trials of city life, but I haven’t got round to trying one. I’m interested to see how this fairs to a normal moisturiser. I’ll definitely try this out during the week when I’m travelling into the city centre for work.
Studio 10 Liquid Foil I-Radiance
‘A crease-resistant eyeshadow that you will ‘foil’ in love with.’
I have yet to buy into the foil trend in beauty and was a little underwhelmed when I saw this. That being said, I am actually now quite excited to play around with it and do some eye looks with it. Will update on how that goes…
Christophe Robin Cleansing Volumising Paste with Pure Rassoul and Clay and Rose Extracts
‘This 85% of natural origin formula brings immediate volume and thickness to fine hair without weighing it down. Apply on wet hair, massage into the scalp. Emulsify then rinse.’
Last but definitely not least is this interesting looking product. The consistency of this is almost like a sugar scrub, and it smells almost medicinal. I love going for voluminous but natural looking hair so I am really looking forward to seeing what results this gives!
