I have used sponges to apply my base for probably years now on and off and I definitely think it’s the way forward. I’m a massive fan of the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge as well as the little ones you get in Superdrug for like £1 that are really handy to pick up. What I hadn’t actually tried, however, is the original Beauty Blender sponge that started the hype years ago.
So when Beauty Blender got in touch with me to see if I would like to try out one of their original sponges, I was so buzzed to say yes! I’ve always wanted to give it a try, but I’ve just never been able to bring myself to spend £17(!) on a sponge. I really didn’t think that paying more was going to give me any better results as I just didn’t understand what could be different about it, and I didn’t want to be paying purely for the brand.
I received the little pink sponge in a plastic canister, along with a sample of some of their sponge cleanser. I was so desperate to try out, it was painful not being able to use it before I got a chance to get a flatlay of it looking clean! It definitely ain’t looking as pink and pretty now.
The first thing I noticed was that it was considerably lighter and softer than any sponge I had ever used before, and definitely has much more of a bounce to it.
As soon as I used this to start dabbing the product on I was so impressed and sold on it. It literally gives such a flawless finish with no weird little lines where the edge of the sponge is. It gives you such a seamless application and the product doesn’t seem to soak into the sponge as much as it does to others. I used this every day for a week for foundation and concealer before I started to properly notice a change in colour.
I’ve also found that it cleans a lot better than my other sponges, even when I don’t use the beauty blender cleanser. I’ve always found that when you properly try to clean other sponges you see bits falling off and coming loose but this cleans up so well and looks close to new after a deep clean.
I am so happy I got to try out the real Beauty Blender and I would definitely recommend anyone that is a fan of the Real Techniques sponge or any others for foundation application should definitely check this out, as it’s totally worth the investment in my opinion.
