Well hello! Welcome to the first (slightly delayed) beauty review of 2018. I thought I would kick off by talking about a product by a brand that I would really like to delve into more this year. There is so much hype around The Ordinary at the moment! Whilst a lot of the attention goes to their stripped back, does-what-it-says-on-the-tin skincare range, I also kept hearing about this. I finally decided to try out their Coverage Foundation last week for the first time after getting it on Beauty Bay in a post-payday shopping frenzy.
From the description and of course the name, this is advertised as a high coverage foundation. And at only £5.90, you can’t really go wrong. I’m really fair with neutral/pinky undertones. I opted for the lightest shade 1.0n and in regards to the colour, it’s a really good match. There is a fairly good colour matcher on their website that you can have a look at if you’re not sure what shade you should be getting.
I expected this to be a really thick consistency so when I first used it, I was a little taken aback by how runny it seemed to be. Once I started blending it in though I found it really easy to work with. It blended in quickly, but not too quickly and the looser consistency meant that it was really easy to build the coverage to a full coverage look without it becoming cakey.
I found the finish to be a matte enough to keep oil at bay but there is also quite a nice glow to it. My skin looks healthy when I wear this.
It didn’t last quite as well as some of my more pricier foundations, but with a setting spray it still stood the test of time and seen me through the workday.
All in all, you really can’t go wrong with this at that price tag, let’s be honest. It’s definitely the best lowest priced foundation that I have used that I can recall and it definitely performs well beyond the price point. I didn’t quite get the instant full coverage I expected but for everyday wear, this is definitely going to become a staple in my collection.
Have you tried this out? I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this or their serum foundation! Let me know in the comments.
